One of the first giveaways about altered water is the phrasing of the promotion the company is using to hype sales. They describe in great detail the symptoms of not having enough water, but do not relate that to their specific process.
Beware of testimonials. There are no regulations in place to govern their truthfulness and many may not even be accurate or come from real people. There may also be a lot of promotion relating to a certain type of water treatment being highly beneficial, but there is no corroborating scientific evidence.
In general when in doubt about the quality of the water being ingested, do specific research to find out what the best method is for water purification. Most often distillation is the only method that produces the purest water available. Distillation guarantees clean, pure water that maintains health because it doesn't have anything in it that isn't good for the body.
